Peacock Sanctuary

Idupulapaya Peacock sanctuary is located at Idupulapaya, near Vvempalle. It is mainly scrub with tree plantations (partly a nursery which is running by AP forest department) and mainly preserving peacocks.

In the year 2008, CM of Andhra Pradesh Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar reddy has ordered the release of 40 peacocks and peahens there. Later on, it was given control to AP forest department to maintain and preserve the peacocks there. From Kadapa, the place is hardly 70 km distance by road.

The forest officials are trekking in the nearby seshachalam forest, if they found any peacock eggs in the forest they collect those and conserve here. As per the present statics of May 2017, there are around 113 peacocks in this sanctuary.

In this sanctuary, there are around three houses for parents enclosure and two centers for chicks enclosure for the conservation of peacocks.

In this sanctuary, we can't able to watch the Royal walk of the peacock since they are kept in cages. Near to this place you can see  Gandi - Veera Anjaneya swamy temple and IIIT Idupulapaya college.

How to reach there:

By Air: Can reach to Kadapa airport, from there it is 60 km by road, head towards vempalle, RK Valley.
By Rail: Anyone can reach to Kadapa or Yerraguntla Railway station, from there you have to come by road. Yerraguntla to Idupulapaya peacock sanctuary is around  45 km towards Uruturu, animella, vempalle and RK Valley.
By Road: By bus for every 30 minutes (6:00 am to 7:00 pm) there are buses available to vempalle and pulivendla. You can get down at Vempalle and hire an Auto-rickshaw to reach the place (for 3 persons auto will charge around 150 rupees -  because from vempalle to Idupulapaya it is around 8 km to reach exactly to Peacock sanctuary). Bus inquiry can get from here.
