Nityapoojakona is one of the scared temple for Lord Shiva in siddhavatam mandal of Kadapa district, which located on the southern part to Lankamalla Hills forest area of Eastern Ghats. It is fully crowded during Shivarathi (Maha Shivarathri) festival, a large number of devotees don't sleep on the particular day (jagaramu) and devotees keep on chanting 'OM NAMA SHIVAYAH' near the temple site or on the trail (dhaari). The temple is mainly opened on every Monday.
How to go: From Kadapa it is approximately 40kms. It is having two routes from Kadapa.
- one is through Kadapa - Kanumlopalle - Bhakarapeta - Siddhavatam - Nityapoojakona base, the distance is approximately 33kms from Kadapa.
- another one is through Kadapa - Chalama reddi palli - Takoli - Siddavatam - Nityapoojakona base, the distance is approximately 31kms from Kadapa.
Here Nityapoojakona base refers, as the temple is in hill there will be transport upto the foot of the hill only. From the foot of the hill, every person has to trek the trail upto 2.5 kilometers for having darshan (darshanamuu).
The trail is formed with huge rocks and with some water deposited and plenty of trees on the both sides of the trail you can not able to catch the sky with your eye at some places either you can see hill or green leaves only. Particularly saying, Nityapoojakona waterfalls cascading down a height of 100 feet. The water flows through the trial also, in rainy seasons you can experience walking on water and rocks for reaching the temple site.
As the temple is constructed of the rock, be careful while making a move. On Every Monday plenty of food will be served by the devotees of Lord Shiva, regarding food you no need to worry especially on Mondays (Excluding Shivarathri Festival). The food cooked and served by devotees is delicious with rice, pappu(dal), pachadi (coconut chutney, green chillies chutney - whichever is available), rasam, kheer and curd. You have sufficient place for having the food, be careful while eating if you leave you plate monkey might come and take your plate, but while having your food monkeys wont disturb you.
If you are planning a picnic on Monday especially, first prefer this place as it is good for enjoying pleasant nature, hygienic food (no need to carry), wonderful waterfalls etc.,
Transportation: If you have an own vehicle start your journey on the specified routes (or) you can hire to and fro four wheeler or auto-rickshaw from Kadapa on hour basis also. APSRTC Kadapa Depot was running a Bus from Kadapa to Nityapoojakona on Monday 7.00am from Old bus stand, Kadapa, the same bus will return at 3.00pm from Nityapoojakona to Kadapa. If you missed that bus, take a bus to siddhavatam place from there hire an auto-rickshaw to nityapoojakona, fare for auto-rickshaw will be rupees 150 (Preferred on Monday only).
